“Today I will allow and be.”

Allow and Be. Look, Surrender, Forgive.

Have we ever had a judgment about someone because their perception differed from our own? How we fought for our opinion, never questioning how it could be that two good people see something so opposite. Anger rises, voices become loud and soon no one is listening at all and nothing is resolved.

Aren’t we ready to ask the age old question, would we rather be happy or would we rather be right about this?  Being right can be extremely painful and exhausting like carrying a huge boulder up a sheer cliff with nowhere to lay it down.  Do we really want to shoulder that boulder?

What if we allowed judgment to be suspended and our thoughts to become fluid? This may mean simply agreeing to disagree.  Or it may mean really listening to the other person with an open mind and seeing things through their eyes for just a moment.

In giving up the fight, we now allow our thoughts to flow toward the Light of our true being. The weight of rightness is lifted from our hearts and life becomes a gentle path with all rocks and boulders rolled aside for us.  And then everything happens only in the way it was meant to.  And that way is governed by Love. The battle for rightness becomes meaningless for us as we lift our faces to God and say, “Your Will Be Done.”

There is no right or wrong, only God’s Holy Will which is always right. God’s Will is right because it comes from Love. No dramas. No differences. No battles. No judgments. No manipulations. No misunderstandings. Only pure and holy, all encompassing and total Love.

“I will stop hiding my true self today.”

Let’s monitor ourselves for thoughts that lessen our experience.  When we are tempted to believe that we are something other than a powerful and holy spirit child of God, we are wearing a costume disguising us from our true self. Let’s make a conscious effort to re-think that thought. Whenever we are tempted to believe our past experiences have a hold over us, we must re-think that thought as well, and reclaim power over our life.  Let’s remember everything is helpful when perceived properly.  Instead of woe is me, let’s ask, “What’s the lesson here?”  Then be still and listen to God’s voice make all things clear for us.

Let’s remove the disguise of false thinking and be our own authentic self.

The quicker we learn our lessons, the sooner we can experience our joy.  Instead of pain and suffering, we will see the calm and quiet love in every moment and every challenge becomes a blessing.  And every disguise that comes from pain is gently removed from our experience.

All becomes clear and we have no need for disguises of a false identity. The truth rises up and all else simply falls away.  And what is real, peace, love, wellness, abundance and forgiveness all miraculously radiate through us and with calm and joyous confidence we can now begin our real life.

“I will quiet my mind and listen to God today.”

We talk to God –a lot, but we don’t listen very well. In our prayers we ask for things and then we get busy and tell Him how to make them happen. We want this particular job or this specific car or this one house or this exact family or relationship or healing or workplace dynamic.  We pray for others around us to change to accommodate our personalities and perceptions. We don’t have a clue as to how we are limiting our options by trying to manipulate our lives to follow our little plans for what we believe we want and need. 

We put ourselves in a prison cell of our own making and then complain because we’re trapped in a life that brings us pain or is not fulfilling. We seek, seek, seek and never find.

Only when we calm down and get quiet are we able to open ourselves to the infinite possibilities of the Divine Universe. Maybe it’s time to stop asking, stop talking and thinking and grow still and listen. Could it be there is Someone Who knows more than we do?  Is it possible that we don’t know what is right for us? Could we really just say, “Help me, God.” and then be quiet?

What if it’s true?  The quiet mind hears clearly and the busy mind hears nothing much at all. Let’s try something different. Let’s soften our hearts, still our thoughts and fill each moment with silent kindness. Now we allow ourselves to grow still and live each moment mindfully. God has much to say, but we can only hear Him if we stop talking and start listening.  

Prison or Perfection?  Chaos or Quiet? Mayhem or Miracles? 

The choices are ours.

Who would attempt to fly with the tiny wings of a sparrow when the mighty power of an eagle has been given him?” A Course In Miracles

We are the teachers of God. So how do we change the world? How do we stop the wars and violence and hate and anger; the divisiveness and the judgment? How do we rid the world of negativity and fear? It’s impossible on our own. The simple beauty is that we don’t need to change the world, we only need to change ourselves. It can all be done in our own small world.

It’s as simple as being kind to our neighbor, loving and respecting our parents, blessing the guy that cuts us off in traffic, letting someone ahead of us in line at the grocery store, smiling at a stranger, playing with a child, laughing at our mistakes. It’s as simple yet powerful as forgiving someone from our past, praying for peace, envisioning a healed world.

It’s as easy as lighting a candle, putting on some quiet music and meditating for 10 or 20 minutes. Or just stilling our minds for a moment in the midst of our day. It’s paying an honest compliment to someone who needs a boost in confidence or giving encouragement to

another who needs to be lifted up a bit. It’s seeing the light in each other instead of pointing out each other’s mistakes. It’s recognizing our oneness and respecting our differences. It’s taking an instant to bless the world and everyone in it.

Creative kindness is something we can all do and takes no more time and effort than brushing our teeth or washing our hands. And it can be done while we are brushing our teeth or washing our hands or at any other time throughout the course of our day. So simple and yet the effects are far reaching. The healing energy that comes from our small, loving acts and thoughts and words really do affect the greater world. We may not immediately see it or feel it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Every bit of Love energy we offer is accepted by God as a blessing of healing for everyone. Our gift to God is our trust that this is true.

Sometimes the results are dramatic and intense, but more often they are subtle and may not even be recognized by us. But that doesn’t make it any less powerful and true. And the more of us that join together in being God’s helpers, the more quickly will the world be healed.

The world will change, not from our own efforts, but from the Power of the Strength of God through us. It is through God that our efforts have the power to heal and save the world. And He will tell us exactly what to do, what to think and what to say when and where and to whom, to make it all happen.

We only have to be willing and to believe and to ask God, “How can I help You?”

“I will remember that everything is an opportunity.”

We may think life is a series of large and little fires with a few light moments in between. We spend a lot of time putting out fires and when we are not putting out fires we are trying to prevent them. We don’t yet understand that the world is what we make of it.

God shows us, not fires, but opportunities. Everything we judge as a fire or bad news or a shoe dropping God sees as our opportunity for growth and healing and greatness. In every moment and in all things He shows us we need do nothing on our own. We have powerful companions who walk with us, stand behind us, beside us and before us pointing out the path to peace for us. Fires are skirted and extinguished before harm is done if we but follow His guidance and ask for help before we make plans on our own.

What if the world that we are so invested in, so judgmental of and which causes us so much fear and pain is simply an illusion? A mirage that we believe in because it looks and feels so real to us. Wow! That fire is hot! It must be real. Our first instinct is to get out the hose and extinguish it. We do this, not in quiet contemplation, but in panic. And yet our experience tells us that even if we extinguish one fire there will be another and another. That’s simply the way the ego world is designed. If we don’t learn our lesson this time, it will rise up again.  We do get a break now and then, but that never lasts for long before another fire rises up from the ashes of the one before it. This is not God’s plan, but the ego’s, to keep us unbalanced and in a constant state of mild or wild fear.  Our fear is the ego’s nourishment.

So what’s the answer? The answer lies in how we choose to see. Instead of seeing life as a series of emergencies, let’s look at it as a series of opportunities. This turns the ego’s plan over to God where it can be corrected and rendered harmless. Now we have opportunities for forgiveness instead of judgment and defensiveness and attack. Opportunities for laughter instead of fear and doom. Opportunities for letting go and letting God.

Instead of looking at the fire, why don’t we look through the fire? The old adage is true, “This too shall pass.” And when it passes as it will, let’s ask ourselves some questions. “Okay, this one’s over, now what have I learned so I don’t have to do this again?”

Have I learned to trust in the power of God instead of my own small strength? Have I learned to find peace in this instead of pain? Have I learned how to be kind and compassionate and helpful in the world? Have I learned to laugh at fear thoughts so that the sparks of potential problems drop harmlessly into God’s healing waters and are extinguished by Love? Have I learned to breathe and be calm and listen as a way to quiet the noisy ego voice of panic and fear and worry and anxiety?

If the answer is yes to these questions, then congratulations! You have moved a thousand miles further upon your path to peace. Now you have transcended insanity and are resting in the heart of God safe and whole and healed.

“My mind is calm and quiet.
All my thoughts are still.
My heart forgives with gentle kindness.
I share and trust God’s will.”

As we go about our day, our thoughts scurry willy nilly around our brain like mice on caffeine.  A judgment here, a guilty thought there, a tinge of sadness, a splash of fear. All these negative thoughts do nothing for us, but only block the channel to God’s constant flow of joy and His eternal stream of perfect peace. We are way too tolerant of our mind’s chatter and way too impatient to be still and in the moment. Only by being still and mindful in this moment will we allow ourselves to remember who we really are.

Our negative and fear-filled thinking has made this world a sad and angry place. Haven’t we grown weary of such a place?  When will we finally be ready to acknowledge that there is a better way and it lives right inside our own mind and heart? And not only does it live inside us, it is the truth of us. It is our gift from a Loving God who quietly tells us over and over and over, gently with absolute patience and complete Love, “Be still and know that I am here.”

We needn’t worry about what our brothers and sisters are doing, thinking or saying. We need only be mindful of the glory of God within ourselves and our brothers and sisters, in time, will see their reflection in our light. Through our quiet willingness to be an example of forgiveness and of love, they will find their own path of healing.   

We have His love there is no doubt. Now it’s time to open our mind and really understand what it means to be a Child of God. It’s time to see His Light, feel His joy, delight in His wisdom. It’s time to experience and own our own truth. Life, when lived happily is done so, one mindful moment at a time taken lovingly step by step with our hand in God’s. A kind thought here, a generous act there, a forgiving choice here, a helpful hand there. A smile. A laugh. A celebration of true life!  “God’s Will is mine.”

Dear Self,

I love you. I know I don’t say this very often and maybe I never have and yet it is true. It must be true for I know in my heart that you were created by Love and that Love which created you is what you are. This is the truth of you and nothing can change that.

Self, you are beautiful. You are wonderful. You are amazing. Your many kindnesses have not gone unnoticed. Your desire to be helpful and happy and healthy and safe is treasured by God. And your prayers for happiness and health and safety for others is a blessing to the world.

Prayer, among other things, is the constant, quiet hope that lives inside you that you may not even be aware of. Nonetheless God hears it because He hears your heart. Even when you hide your light behind sadness and pain, anger and fear, yet it is there, just waiting to shine forth. And then you smile and it does. And then you laugh and joy bubbles up and transforms you and everyone around you. And that joy ripples out into the world and touches so many even God has lost count. And yet He is happy in your happiness. 

Self, I apologize for how often I have distrusted you and diminished you and your ideas and your presence as unimportant and unworthy. Somewhere deep inside me I know the truth. You are not your mistakes.  Instead you are your Light.

You have many ideas that are very important and in fact vital to your healing and the world’s. These ideas are often buried so deeply that you don’t even know they exist and yet they do because you exist. And because you exist, I exist.

The truth shines in your eyes and is heard in your voice as it speaks words of wisdom and comfort to others. Now I would like to give you words of comfort by telling you, you are loved and beloved and cherished beyond words. You are a delight to God Who created you and He never sees you any way but perfect.

God shines His Loving Light upon you and Angels wrap their wings protectively around you. Your holiness and your innocence are beyond question. Your gentle, loving spirit extends into the world and lights up every heart. Please remember who you are so you can be at peace and walk in the happy light of your own true nature today, tomorrow and always.

Self, I love you. I know I don’t say this often, but I will try to change that.

“Have you not wondered what the world is really like; how it would look through happy eyes?” A Course In Miracles

“I will recognize my perfection today.”

Beyond this body and this world, there is no need for self improvement. We are already perfect. All we need to do is recognize our perfection. We do this by lifting the blinders of our belief in littleness and limitation. We must let go of our thinking that we are something other than God’s Holy Creation. We must banish our doubts about ourselves and everyone else as well and trust that no one is their behavior.

We are not our fears.

We are not our insecurities.

We are not our bodies.

And no matter how much it may seem like it, we are not our behavior.

Instead we are Light, Spirit Creations of God capable at any moment of transforming our thinking into purest thoughts of kindness and compassion. We are able at any moment to understand this world and ourselves through the truth of our highest Being.

Let’s listen to our innermost thoughts and compare them to our outer conversations and actions. Are they in alignment? Is God’s Love within what we live without? Have we ever consciously and willingly allowed ourselves to be lifted above the chaos and the confusion of the ego world? Are we calm inside and out? Are we smiling in our hearts and on our faces? Are our hearts overflowing with love for ourselves and all others? Are we being tolerant and kind and helpful?

Or are we taking our natural state of holiness and perfection and hiding them behind a cloud of doubt and anger and fear? Are we covering our truth with foggy thinking and then claiming that the fog is who and what we are? And what all others are as well?

If so, no wonder we suffer pain and anxiety and sickness. No wonder there is war and senseless violence. We can’t hide our Glorious Being behind a mist of fear and doubt and be at peace. We can’t shove a loving and Holy Creation into a small box of insane thinking and not be extremely uncomfortable and frustrated. In extreme cases even justified in demonic destruction.

It would be like caging a tiger or binding the wings of an eagle. It would be like calling a majestic mountain a hill and seeing the ocean as a puddle. 

We are meant to soar with Angels and to travel with winged feet on a path of pure light with nothing less than God as our Guide.

The problem is not our lives, our jobs, our bodies our relationships or our government. The problem is how we see ourselves in relation to these things. If we see ourselves as God sees us, holy and innocent and perfect and free, our jobs and our relationships and our lives will reflect that perfection. Nothing needs to change except our minds, our thinking, and our beliefs. It doesn’t mean our lives, our relationships, our bodies and our jobs won’t change if they are meant to.  It only means that our minds must change first for true and permanent transformation.

The old saying “Bloom where you’re planted,” is true. In living our truth and our perfection we will become teachers of love and kindness instead of fear and unhappiness. Our lives will be transformed, not by outer change but by inner change. A new way of thinking will lead us toward a new way of being.

Let’s wonder no more.  Instead, let’s change our minds and see.

We will free a world imprisoned by fear, transforming it into a world made holy by Love.

In our light all others will see their own light and rejoice for having been awakened from a crazy dream that was never the truth. All the world will bow before us in gratitude for our having been willing to share our light and our open heart and mind for the healing of all.

We get caught up in how things look, having forgotten how things are. We think how they look and how they are, are one and the same. We need only open our heart and ask for help to see with our inner eye and listen with our inner ear if we really want to learn what is true and what is not.

Love is true. Fear is not.

Darkness cannot long survive in the Light of God’s Holy Truth. We are God’s Light created in Love holy, unchanging and eternal. By following our true path we are now teachers for God and examples for our brothers and sisters. Together we will be lifted to our highest place by our new trust and belief in ourselves and in each other. And through this trust we will join as one in seeing the truth of our own perfect light.

This world will be a brand new place. Though it may look the same on the outside, inside of us, we will know it is different. God’s Laws of pure Love will govern this new/old world and bring harmony and balance and peace and happiness and abundance to all. We will not be deceived by lingering symptoms of small fears and traces of shadowy darkness, but will see through them to the Light of God on the other side.

Smiles will light every face and joy will flow through every heart. We will laugh at the past as we celebrate in this heavenly eternal moment side by side and hand in hand.

“Let me be a light for peace today.”

Each time we laugh with joy we are sharing a new beginning.
Each time we smile with quiet grace we are offering love.
Each time we open our minds and ask for help to forgive
We are being instruments for peace.
Each time we allow our heart to beat with calm and quiet confidence,
We are placing our trust where it belongs.

God’s Love and Light hum here at the Center of our Universe

Miracles are commonplace.

“I will say YES to life today.”

Let’s see how many times we can say yes today.  Not yes in the sense that we are afraid to say no, but YES in the sense that we allow ourselves to be open to the possibilities for a beautiful experience in each moment.

Below are some YES thoughts for us to consider.

YES, I give myself permission to be happy.
YES, I will see my loved ones as the lights of my life.
YES, I will laugh in the rain and celebrate in the sun.
YES, I will see the beauty in my spirit.
YES, I will stop and experience nature knowing it is free.
YES, I will believe I am not this body and this body is not me.
YES, I will accept I am Holy and Beloved beyond this world.
YES, I will use my body as an instrument of peace.
YES, I will enjoy the world without guilt.
YES, I will welcome everyone with an open mind.
YES, I will trust that there are possibilities for joy in every experience.
YES, I will forgive every grievance for my own peace of mind.
YES, I will not be afraid to be open to joy knowing joy is my truth.

Who would attempt to fly with the tiny wings of a sparrow when the mighty power of an eagle has been given him?” A Course In Miracles

We are the teachers of God. So how do we change the world? How do we stop the wars and violence and hate and anger; the divisiveness and the judgment? How do we rid the world of negativity and fear? It’s impossible on our own. The simple beauty is that we don’t need to change the world, we only need to change ourselves. It can all be done in our own small world.

It’s as simple as being kind to our neighbor, loving and respecting our parents, blessing the guy that cuts us off in traffic, letting someone ahead of us in line at the grocery store, smiling at a stranger, playing with a child, laughing at our mistakes. It’s as simple yet powerful as forgiving someone from our past, praying for peace, envisioning a healed world.

It’s as easy as lighting a candle, putting on some quiet music and meditating for 10 or 20 minutes. Or just stilling our minds for a moment in the midst of our day. It’s paying an honest compliment to someone who needs a boost in confidence or giving encouragement to another who needs to be lifted up a bit. It’s seeing the light in each other instead of pointing out each other’s mistakes. It’s recognizing our oneness and respecting our differences. It’s taking an instant to bless the world and everyone in it.

Creative kindness is something we can all do and takes no more time and effort than brushing our teeth or washing our hands. And it can be done while we are brushing our teeth or washing our hands or at any other time throughout the course of our day. So simple and yet the effects are far reaching. The healing energy that comes from our small, loving acts and thoughts and words really do affect the greater world. We may not immediately see it or feel it, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t happening. Every bit of Love energy we offer is accepted by God as a blessing of healing for everyone. Our gift to God is our trust that this is true.

Sometimes the results are dramatic and intense, but more often they are subtle and may not even be recognized by us. But that doesn’t make it any less powerful and true. And the more of us that join together in being God’s helpers, the more quickly will the world be healed.

The world will change, not from our own efforts, but from the Power of the Strength of God through us. It is through God that our efforts have the power to heal and save the world. And He will tell us exactly what to do, what to think and what to say when and where and to whom, to make it all happen.

We only have to be willing and to believe and to ask God, “How can I help You?”

A simple word, only three letters and the sound, a single syllable. Let’s say it in our mind.  “JOY!” Now, aloud.  What does it invoke for us?  Children running through a sprinkler on a hot summer day?  Hear their squeals. Let the sound of their laughter fill our mind. Watch them jump and splash with joy. 

Now, let’s go deeper.  Let’s be the child running through the sprinkler.  Let’s be the one laughing and squealing and running and jumping and splashing.  Let’s be the joyous one.  What does it feel like when there is nothing but joy in our experience?  What is it like when our mind is filled to overflowing with joy? What is it to be in this moment where nothing exists but the purest joy in our heart?

Let’s breathe in joy and breathe out joy.  We can’t help but smile.  We can’t stop our laughter.  We can’t keep the feeling from filling us and flowing out into the world.  We want to jump for joy.  We want to leap and dance and sing with joy. Let every thought but joy be still in us today! OH JOY!

“I will quiet my mind and listen to God today.”

We talk to God –a lot, but we don’t listen very well. In our prayers we ask for things and then we get busy and tell Him how to make them happen. We want this particular job or this specific car or this one house or this exact family or relationship or healing or workplace dynamic.  We pray for others around us to change to accommodate our personalities and perceptions. We don’t have a clue as to how we are limiting our options by trying to manipulate our lives to follow our little plans for what we believe we want and need. 

We put ourselves in a prison cell of our own making and then complain because we’re trapped in a life that brings us pain or is not fulfilling. We seek, seek, seek and never find.

Only when we calm down and get quiet are we able to open ourselves to the infinite possibilities of the Divine Universe. Maybe it’s time to stop asking, stop talking and thinking and grow still and listen. Could it be there is Someone Who knows more than we do?  Is it possible that we don’t know what is right for us? Could we really just say, “Help me, God.” and then be quiet?

“I will silently bless everyone today.”

A single person trying to achieve anything is not as powerful as two.  Two are weaker than three and three are less able than four.  Imagine hundreds pulling together or thousands, millions and more? The more who join in joy, the more the world’s healing is increased.

Let’s envision concerts, sporting events and stage productions where thousands and hundreds of thousands of fans acclaim a single artist or an athlete in an uproar of applause and joyful shouts. My own heart soars at the outpouring of all the love. I cannot help thinking each time I see that, why can’t we do the same for God? And then my mind asks, and why not for each other? And ourselves? Is it really necessary to sing a Grammy winning song, play a Tony or Academy Award winning part, be an MVP on a winning team or win an Olympic medal to reap the rewards of appreciation from our brothers and sisters?  Why can’t we honor and be honored just for who we are?  What greater cause for celebration can there be than to rejoice in ourselves and each other for being God’s Glorious Creation? Singing songs, acting parts and playing games is small accomplishment compared to that.

We see each other through a very dim lens much of the time. Why are our mistakes so much more valued than our holy presence in the world?

A silent blessing to every brother or sister who comes before us today will suffice, or anyone who comes into our mind. In doing this we are honoring an MVC; God’s Most Valuable Creation.

And now smile with gratitude beloved Children of a loving God for as we honor ourselves and each other, we honor our Creator. And a Holy Loving Light shines upon the world and darkness is no more.

“I could see peace instead of this.” A Course In Miracles

“Today I will contribute only to peace.”

What we put into our mind is more important than what we put into our mouth. Would we knowingly drink poison? That’s exactly what we do when we have a judgmental or unkind thought about ourselves and others. There is no denying the injustices in the world, war, abuse, sickness, violence, danger, extreme weather conditions, hunger and scarcity. We cannot correct all of the problems of the world, but we can stop contributing to them. And we can stop being victims ourselves. We can ask for help and be consistent about changing our negative self talk. We can believe we deserve better and so does everyone else. What we expect is what we are open to receiving.

We can bless everyone in our life and everyone who comes before us even for an instant and watch God’s world emerge from this one. We can smile. We can laugh. We can celebrate life and its myriad of blessings. We can believe in God’s abundance, God’s health and well being, God’s safety and protection, God’s harmony and balance.

Miracles come from Love. When we allow loving thoughts to fill our mind we will see miracles flow from us creating beautiful ripples throughout the world. Let’s put the poison away and sip the nectar of God’s joy starting now. 

We will walk in quiet confidence today focusing, not on what we can’t do, but what we can. And it starts with allowing God’s Holy Laws of Love to govern all things and ends with a world blessed and healed.
