“I will focus on forgiveness today.”

Envision one person in your life whom you adore.  Now envision one person in your life who causes you grief or disturbs your peace in any way. What if you were told that there is no difference between these people. They both offer you lessons toward your peace, one just more gently than the other. It is the one who is the bigger challenge to you who is your greatest teacher and from whom you will learn the most.  In this sense you should be most grateful for him/her for this one will lead you toward your peace much more quickly than the other because they will more forcefully teach you all the blocks to your peace so you can forgive and surrender them and thereby find your peace.

Now envision yourself as one with the easy person. Lift this person and yourself up to the Divine Universe. See your spirits join and blend one into the other. See a beautiful light surround you both and fill you with a sense of oneness.  Feel your love for each other strengthen as all your judgments fade and your differences begin to heal. Accept that it’s okay to agree to disagree and watch as any tension and any fears in this relationship dissolve and disappear. Now there is no separation between you and all that’s left is light. And in that light lives trust. That is true forgiveness.

Now envision yourself at one with the difficult person and do the same exercise. Not so easy? Yet when you can do this, your world will change and you will never know another moment’s fear. And your difficult relationship will be transformed. That is true forgiveness. 

If this person’s fears and challenges are too difficult to surmount, you may have to set boundaries. If that’s the case, do so gently, lovingly and with Divine guidance. Put the relationship in God’s Hands and set yourself free.

Let our prayer be for healing and health and safety for all the world. Let us ask for help with kindness and love and trust to generate the health and wellness, safety and peace of mind we want for every man, woman and child on earth. And then let us be grateful and say Thank You, God!
