MISTAKES ARE STEPPING STONES

“I will be tolerant and patient with myself and others today.”

We can use our mistakes and our fears as opportunities for learning and growing toward a more confident and happier, healthier self. This means looking at our weaknesses, and our fears without guilt or judgment, but with loving detachment and then quietly forgiving them. Not condoning or condemning, but simply looking and letting go. Seeing our weaknesses and mistakes honestly is not comfortable or easy for most of us, but it is a very important step for our healing and something we all need to do if we are to grow.

We can’t heap blame upon ourselves or become defensive and absolutely we must boot guilt out the door. I’m not saying that we don’t take responsibility for our mistakes, only that once we have taken responsibility and even apologized and made amends when necessary, that we then use the experience for something positive before we let it go.  It’s important to remember, nobody’s perfect in this world. 

Once we’ve gotten past them it’s important to use our imperfections as stepping stones toward a better life. In that way there are no regrets and everything, even our mistakes can serve a higher purpose. Also, being tolerant with ourselves makes it easier for us to be patient and tolerant with others. 

It’s time we laugh at ourselves more and lighten up about our judgments of everyone else. In this way we can foster harmony and balance within our own minds and hearts and extend this gift of learning and wisdom to the world.  Now, we are the answer, not the problem. And though we may not be perfect in this world, we are perfect in God.

At one time or another we all ask, Who am I? and Why am I here? The answer is simple.

“I am the glorious child of a loving God. And my purpose is to be free of all fear.”

Being without fear …
… engenders hope,
… allows us to extend and receive love more fully,
… opens our mind and heart to allow God’s Holy guidance,
… heals our heart, our mind and our body,
… encourages us to be our best self at all times,
… causes us to always remain calm and calms others,
… keeps us in a joyous state and attracts joy to us,
… protects us and our loved ones, keeping us safe in the light and love of God,
… allows us to be open to the abundance of a loving God,
… promotes forgiveness without condoning or condemning,
… lets us walk quietly in the world with our mind open to all possibilities,
… guarantees us a life dedicated to serving a higher purpose.

NOW REMEMBER …

You are the glorious child of a loving God. And your purpose is to be free of all fear.  It happens through forgiveness. Letting go and trusting God.

“Today I can forget the world I made. Today I can go past all fear and be restored to love and holiness and peace. Today I am redeemed, and born anew into a world of mercy and of care; of loving kindness and the peace of God.” A Course in Miracles

If we choose to be kind, we cannot qualify that decision with thoughts of only under certain conditions. I will be kind unless someone bugs me or is mean to me or says something thoughtless or does something I don’t like. To challenge others with the idea of ‘Just because I am kind, don’t think I am a pushover.” Or “Just because I’m kind, doesn’t mean I won’t fight for my rights or the rights of others.”

It doesn’t work that way. Kindness is a power, one of the greatest powers we possess. In kindness, we are strong and protected by the Divine Love of God. It doesn’t matter what others do or think or say to us, kindness cuts through the negativity like a laser light that disperses darkness and opens up a channel for God to work through us, using us as His Holy Healers.

Kindness transcends the fear and pain and sadness of the world and lifts us up to a mountaintop of Holy Healing where we cannot be affected by the ego fears of a lower world that no longer serves us. When we are truly kind, we never feel provoked to attack back or to protect ourselves from dark illusions.  In true kindness we only feel … kind.

In kindness we understand that others attacks of unkind words or actions toward us are not the truth of them, so we don’t feel anything but kindness toward them no matter what is happening. We feel only compassion as they act out their fears and pain upon us. This may seem impossible, but through the power of God nothing is impossible. We may need to leave a dangerous situation or get help from outside sources, but even still when we have calmed down, we can be kind in our minds and in our hearts.

We have no idea how much love and healing we generate through our simple acts, words and thoughts of kindness.  But God knows. And we are blessed as His teachers and His channels in the world.

“I will simply be happy with God today.”

God gives us great works to perform in the simplest manner.

Those of us that are happiest know what this means. 
When we are at peace, we are natural channels for 
God’s Love to flow into the world.
By being at peace, we are teachers of peace.

God can only use us when we unblock our path to Him.
Fear blocks us from serving Him.
Joy lets Him in.

God doesn’t ask us to do big and complicated things.
He just asks us to be happy.
Then He can do big and complicated things through us.
Many times without us even knowing that He is using us.

It’s so simple.
The truth is always simple.
It’s we who make things complicated.
Therefore, it’s we who can turn things around
By simply choosing God.

It’s not something we do.
It’s not something we say.
It is simply what we are.

In doing so we gain the simplicity of happiness and share it with the world.

“Let all your brothers and your sisters be seen in light of charity and kindness … “  A Course In Miracles

”The miracle comes quietly into the mind that stops an instant and is still.” A Course In Miracles 

 “I will be quiet so I can be kind and receive my miracles today.”

If we wonder what to do or say in any situation, the answer is simple, short and sweet.

“Be quiet and be kind.”

 It isn’t always necessary to respond in every situation. Often it’s best to say nothing.  Do nothing. Let it pass through us instead of taking it on as ours. Instead of building a brick wall of slights and hurts around us that we believe we must defend ourselves against, we can think of the slights as wind and let it blow over us.

If we’re feeling attacked or uncomfortable, we can simply grow still and then be kind. Try seeing the situation from a different perspective.  Any time we feel attacked, perhaps it isn’t how it seems.  Maybe the person attacking is merely projecting their pain and fear on us because it hurts too much to accept their own responsibility in a given situation. It may be too painful for them to look at the dark feelings from their past that live inside them so they turn on us and lash out or criticize us or blame us for their problems.  And perhaps we unknowingly do the same to others because we are blinded by our own fears.  It is this vicious cycle of pain and projection that keeps this insane world going.  This is what makes us feel powerless and victimized.

What if we decide to look at things differently? Do we have to attack back?  Defend ourselves? Or project our pain on others? Do we have to play the blame game?  Where is the peace for us in this?

“In my defenselessness my safety lies.” A Course In Miracles  In our defenseless we are placing our trust where it belongs – in God.  “Defenselessness is strength.” A Course In Miracle

Could there be a better way? Like the old saying, the buck stops here, why not the anger stops here? Or fear stops here?  Or pain stops here?  Or the insanity stops here?

Can’t we just grow quiet and pray, “God help me here.”?  And then listen for our message of kindness and forgiveness.  Perhaps we will be asked to simply walk away.  Then breathe and gently smile as we let God show us another way, a better way to be in this world.

“Forgiveness is the key to  happiness.” A Course In Miracles

The answer is forgiveness. We must, one person at a time, forgive ourselves for our mistakes and ask God to heal us so we can be instruments of peace instead of pain. It seems almost impossible to withhold our judgments and be free of ego fear. The natural thing seems to be to judge the world and to believe we know what everyone else should be doing differently. This desire to rule through our egos instead of allowing God’s Love in is very powerful and entrenched into our way of thinking and being in the world.

The answer is forgiveness. We must, one person at a time, forgive ourselves for our mistakes and ask God to heal us so we can be instruments of peace instead of pain. It seems almost impossible to withhold our judgments and be free of ego fear. The natural thing seems to be to judge the world and to believe we know what everyone else should be doing differently. This desire to rule through our egos instead of allowing God’s Love in is very powerful and entrenched into our way of thinking and being in the world.

And we cannot do it alone. God is always with us to help us change our thoughts whenever we open our mind and heart and turn to Him. For every fear thought there is a corresponding Love thought. We must be vigilant in watching how we react and respond to the world and those in our lives. And every time we find ourselves responding with negativity, we can stop ourselves even in mid sentence or mid thought and go somewhere quiet and say, “God, I give my mistaken thoughts to you. Please help me to be your channel 1110

and your tool for healing in the world.” Or “God, please help me to see this through Your Eyes so I can change my mind.”

Working through Love instead of fear is not easy at first until we acquire the habit for a new way of being. But it’s necessary if we really want a better world. Sometimes, we can only pray, “God help me.” And that is the most powerful prayer there is.

We are not alone. Powerful Guides walk with us. Let’s take Their hands and allow ourselves to be lifted above the fray where we can truly be a healer for God in the world. And when we find ourselves in the middle of the mess again, which we will, let’s take God’s hand again. And then again. And then again.

Every experience and every moment is another opportunity to choose again. And to remember the powerful truth – that we are not alone. God and His Angels walk with us and His will for us is only peace and happiness and nothing else. When we turn to God for help we are simply aligning our will with His. And there is nothing more powerful that we can do for the healing of the world.

“I invite the solution to come to me through my forgiveness of the grievance and my welcome of the miracle …” ACIM

What if we become part of the solution by smiling gently at anyone who needs a smile and offering a happy greeting to friends and strangers alike? What if we are part of the solution, by choosing to withhold judgment of what we see and hear on the news and instead send a healing prayer to everyone involved?

Love is energy that heals. Fear is energy that keeps the world in darkness. We have the capacity for both. We can get angry and righteous and choose to make the world the problem of those we see as guilty. Or we can take responsibility for our part in the mess by remembering our anger and our fear are just as powerful for keeping the world in pain as those who are actually acting out the drama and the violence.

We may not want to believe that our thoughts are that powerful. After all we’re not doing anything to hurt anyone. But when we consider that we are creations of the greatest Power of all, is it too farfetched to believe that we are contributing to the chaos by keeping our thoughts in chaos? In a lesser way, perhaps, but contributors nonetheless. And there are billions of us joining forces in judgment and in fear. Let’s turn that around and join forces in forgiveness and love. In small ways and large, we are now extending a new energy. And this energy heals and blesses and comforts everyone. And we are part of the solution.

When we look at the world, what do we see? All the pain, and suffering? Or the truth, that God is real and everything and everyone can be lifted into His Light for healing? Do we join the world in its misery by adding our negative energy of fear and judgment to the chaos? Or can we choose a better way?

What if we join forces with God by sending kind and loving thoughts into the world every chance we get? What if we lay our fears down and pray, “God help us.” What if we go about our day giving kindness and compassion to everyone we meet. One way we can do this is by dispensing random acts of kindness like small ribbons of light and joy before the feet of everyone.

“I will spend today in seeing with the vision of forgiveness.”

Forgiveness isn’t easy, but it is simple. It requires only a little willingness to see the world and ourselves differently. God does not expect perfection; only an open mind and a willing heart. Not even words are required. Only the desire to be happy.  He reads our hearts, hears our thoughts and knows our intentions even before we do.

If we need words, a perfect prayer would be, “I only want to be happy.”  In that thought lies the happiness of all our brothers and sisters as well.  Because in that thought we have laid aside our fears for just a moment and allowed God’s Love to rush in.   

In our tiny willingness we are rising above the world’s laws of limitation and chaos and quietly letting God’s Laws rule us. Now we can see that beyond the insanity all is well and in God, our problems have been solved.

We cannot do this for another, only for ourselves.  And that’s enough. That is quite enough to change the world for everyone. That is the power of forgiveness within the mind of God’s creation – you and me.

 “I am willing to accept my gifts today.”

There’s a halo and a pair of wings for everyone.  
We all can raise our voices in perfect harmony.  
We all can dance with simple grace. 
We all can speak heartfelt poetry and paint a whole new world. 

These gifts are invisible to most of us in the physical world. 
The noise and discord in and around us distract us from them.
Our heavy judgments etched in concrete make it hard to fly.

It’s time to be open to what we can’t see or hear or touch or taste.
It’s time to believe.  It’s time to trust. It’s time to love. It’s time to forgive.
It’s time to allow our holiness. It’s time to free our natural joy. 
It’s time to live beyond time and accept our eternal nature.

Not in time, but in eternity are where our wings are stored.
There our voices are preparing to soar.
There our spirit is putting on its dancing shoes.
There our minds are sharing thoughts of trust and joy.
There our brushes are painting another way of life.

If we close our eyes and grow still, our gifts will open up before us. 

The way to peace is sweet and simple.

Forgive all.
Trust God.
Love one another.

A simple act of kindness can transform a
A stranger into a dear brother or sister

Or who may stay close from this moment on.

Let’s be grateful for all of our
Holy and loving relationships today;
Those that last an instant and 
Those that are forever.

And then let’s look around and see who
We can elevate from our acquaintance list
To our holy relationship list.

Who is on our enemy list that can be corrected
To our holy list through forgiveness and 
Surrendering our anger and our judgment 
To God who loves us all?

A holy relationship is nothing more than

With each other in God’s name; aloud or only in our mind.

”This world is full of miracles.  They stand in shining silence next to every dream of pain and suffering. ” A Course in Miracles

It’s hard to see the sun through the black rolling clouds that so often block our vision.  It is difficult to feel the joy through the heavy sadness and the anger and divisiveness in the world.  It seems impossible that there are miracles behind the pain and light on the other side of all the suffering. Can deep abiding peace really exist beyond the judgment, the violence and the insanity of this crazy world?

How can oneness be real when we see bodies acting out and doing hurtful things to other bodies? How can God be here when children are terminally ill and parents die before their kids are grown? When almost every day hurricanes and floods destroy lives and homes? And wars are waged around the world? How are we to see that what God says is true, “This world is full of miracles”?

We can’t change the world on our own, but we must trust that God’s Word is true no matter how it looks. No matter how it feels.  No matter how it sounds. No matter how unceasingly we are bombarded with chaos and catastrophe everywhere we look. Instead of wallowing in the pain and suffering, we must take God’s hand and stand in the strength of our own holiness and walk through the dark clouds and the screams of pain knowing there is a Higher Power that we’re simply not listening to; a Power that we are overlooking in favor of insanity and suffering.

We must believe that God is not causing the pain and suffering, but is quietly and in perfect stillness shining His constant light through our minds so we can see that He is really here. And He is the Truth.  Not the human, wounded world, but God. Let the tears flow.  Let the hearts break. Let the pain wrap around us. Let the fears build walls before us. Just be quiet and let the world be. On our knees in prayer just let it all be.  Breathe and let it be.

If we look we can see that everywhere where there is suffering, there are millions of kind souls lending a hand and lifting up those who have fallen. Prayers are running rampant through the world and those prayers are being heard. Yours and mine and ours. These are the silent miracles …

Let us stand with God in the Light of our own Truth. If we do this long enough, we will see that God is real and the rest is false. Let us pray, “Let every voice but God’s be still in me.”

If we will stand back and let God lead the way then He will gently dry our tears and heal our hearts. Let us allow God to knock down the walls of fear and soon we will see what we didn’t see before. ”This world is full of miracles.  They stand in shining silence next to every dream of pain and suffering …”

Now every experience is seen through new eyes and every relationship is forgiven and we can rest our hearts knowing that every aspect of our new and holy life is held in the hands of He who lovingly takes care of all things for us. And with it come new companions; Health, Happiness, Abundance, and Safety and perfect Oneness with each other and all the Universe. 

And the Miracles!  A miracle lives in every moment, but we can’t see them through Fear’s eyes, only through a peaceful mind and heart and calm and quiet confidence.

Now the world is Heaven and now we know God’s Peace as the only thing we ever really wanted.

 “To all good things, I say, “Why not me?”

How often have we heard or asked the question, Why me?   Usually in reference to drama or illness or pain of some sort. What if, for now, we turned that question and the answer around and filled our minds and hearts with loving expectations instead of possible bad news.

It would look something like this:

Healthy relationships filled with love and laughter.
WHY NOT ME?

Communication in which understanding is sought and quickly found.
WHY NOT ME?

The perfect job doing just what I love.
WHY NOT ME?

Time and space for myself whenever I need it.
WHY NOT ME?

Let’s allow God to be in charge of our relationships, our bodies, our past, our present and our future.  It sounds simple and it is, but because we have allowed our egos to rule our thinking for so long, it takes great vigilance to trust in this Loving Power that transcends and transforms a world of fear into an experience of pure Love.  Not vigilance against the ego, but vigilance FOR God.

God’s world is simple. The ego world is complex. That’s how we know the difference.

Today as we go about our day, let’s choose to be aware of something more than what we see and hear. Instead, let’s open our hearts and thank God for those who are loving and kind, for those who are ready to choose healing and peace instead of hatred and war. Thank God for all the leaders, spiritual and political who are trying to fix the world by bringing us together as God’s Children as never before. Our gratitude will bless everyone and everyone will be given the opportunity to see themselves and each other through a different lens. And then insanity will transform to quiet reflection and confusion and chaos will be transcended by God’s Love.

“You do not walk alone. God’s angels hover near and all about. His Love surrounds you, and of this be sure; that He will never leave you comfortless.” A Course In Miracles.

“I will see myself comforted and surrounded by God’s Love today.”

When we look at the world, what do we see? All the pain, and suffering? Or the truth, that God is real and everything and everyone can be lifted into His Light for healing? Do we join the world in its misery by adding our negative energy of fear and judgment to the chaos? Or can we choose a better way?

What if we join forces with God by sending kind and loving thoughts into the world every chance we get? What if we lay our fears down and pray, “God help us.” What if we go about our day giving kindness and compassion to everyone we meet. One way we can do this is by dispensing random acts of kindness like small ribbons of light and joy before the feet of everyone.

What if we become part of the solution by smiling gently at anyone who needs a smile and offering a happy greeting to friends and strangers alike? What if we are part of the solution, by choosing to withhold judgment of what we see and hear on the news and instead send a healing prayer to everyone involved? Love is energy that heals. Fear is energy that keeps the world in darkness. We have the capacity for both. We can get angry and righteous and choose to make the world the problem of those we see as guilty. Or we can take responsibility for our part in the mess by remembering our anger and our fear are just as powerful for keeping the world in pain as those who are actually acting out the drama and the violence. We may not want to believe that our thoughts are that powerful. After all we’re not doing anything to hurt anyone. But when we consider that we are creations of the greatest Power of all, is it too farfetched to believe that we are contributing to the chaos by keeping our thoughts in chaos? In a lesser way, perhaps, but contributors nonetheless. And there are billions of us joining forces in judgment and in fear.

The answer is forgiveness. We must, one person at a time, forgive ourselves for our mistakes and ask God to heal us so we can be instruments of peace instead of pain. It seems almost impossible to withhold our judgments and be free of ego fear. The natural thing seems to be to judge the world and to believe we know what everyone else should be doing differently. This desire to rule through our egos instead of allowing God’s Love in is very powerful and entrenched into our way of thinking and being in the world.

And so we cannot do it alone. God is always with us to help us change our thoughts whenever we open our mind and heart and turn to Him. For every fear thought there is a corresponding Love thought. We must be vigilant in watching how we react and respond to the world and those in our lives. And every time we find ourselves responding with negativity, we can stop ourselves even in mid sentence or mid thought and go somewhere quiet and say, “God, I give my mistaken thoughts to you. Please help me to be your channel and your tool for healing in the world.” Or “God, please help me to see this through Your Eyes so I can change my mind.”

Working through Love instead of fear is not easy. But it’s necessary if we really want a better world. Sometimes, we can only pray, “God help me.” And yet that is the most powerful prayer there is.

We are not alone. Powerful Guides walk with us. Let’s take Their hands and allow ourselves to be lifted above the fray where we can truly be a healer for God in the world. And when we find ourselves in the middle of the mess again, which we will, let’s take God’s hand again. And then again. And then again.

Every experience and every moment is another opportunity to choose again. And to remember the powerful truth – that we are not alone. God and His Angels walk with us and His will for us is only peace and happiness and nothing else. When we turn to God for help we are simply aligning our will with His. And there is nothing more powerful that we can do for the healing of the world.

A gentle laugh lets out the light that lives within the center of our spirit.

In Light joy blossoms, 
happiness flows and 
abundance is our destiny.

In Light trust is easy.
